Welcome to the ‘upsidedownable’ world of our Artist of the Month, Hannah Battershell. From intricate works of art made out of tiny pieces of paper, to quirky multi-media images that can be viewed differently (standing on your head is not compulsory) - Hannah seeks to be like an explorer who goes to worlds where no one has ever been and brings back a picture. And although we’ve never seen it before, we all recognise it….
Which side of your brain most defines you? Left, or right? Well, we all know that the right side belongs to creativity. But what happens when you’re an artist and life throws you a curve ball that rocks your brain and your creativity to the very core. Our artist of the month, Italian painter and photographer Elisa Madeo Pitt shares her story and beautiful mixed media paintings that not only are an incredible form of therapy for herself, but for those that enjoy them. We hope you love them as much as we do.
To coincide with our love of coffee, Burt-Jones & Brewer have recently launched a series of ‘Insight Coffee Mornings’, where over a cuppa, we aim to share and debate the wonders and often mysterious ‘world of the workplace’. If we were to liken the workplace to a cup of coffee, every design decision should enhance, inspire, spark and enable high performing workers in order to get the best out of every single bean.
Visual artist. Hidden artist. Vinyl-Junkie up-cycler - Doug Shaw, is our featured ‘Artist of the Month. You may have seen him live at work at Workplace Trends, or stumbled across one of his 200 pieces of ‘hidden works of art’ in his local neighbourhood. Either way, Doug challenges you to see life and work through the arts as a lens, as he believes we are all artists.
The human body is the best work of art
This month we’re delighted to feature artist Inma Garcia-Carrasco, who truly sees beauty in the human body and paints human nature in its purist form.
Every month we will be featuring a talented, inspiring and often emerging artist or artists. Art brings so much joy, value and beauty into people’s lives. As a design consultancy we often work with artists to help enrich workspaces, so this is our way of celebrating the incredible talent that we so lucky to rub shoulders with.
To celebrate turning ten this year we wish to offer a charity the opportunity to work with us and have £10K worth of our time, for free. To nominate your charity for this amazing opportunity, please flag your interest ensuring you use the hashtag #10kforten when responding via either twitter, Linkedin or both! Share, Share, Share !!
The next instalment in our series of ‘Coffee Conversations’ we hear from Co-Founders Steve and Adam and hear what they have to say about workplace matters close to their heart. Expect a double shot of great insight…
We’re delighted to bring you part two in our series of coffee conversations with influential thinkers and next up is Pamela Knudsen from Brand Nurture, who believes ‘meaning, flexibility and challenge are the very things that are key to engaging the hearts and minds of Millennial employees…’ and that’s just the tip of the iced latte!
According to leading brand consultant Stew Redpath, you “can ’smell’ the culture of an organisation within three minutes of entering their offices. In the first of a series of ‘coffee conversations’ we’ll be exploring all sorts of workplace topics, kicking off with brand, culture, leadership and … James Brown.
When we tell our story of how Burtt-Jones and Brewer began, coffee is always mentioned. Why not take a short coffee break to read why there's even more to coffee than meets the cup...
