Evolution not revolution

As a global Nordic bank, with their HQ in Stockholm, SEB's global brand presence is carefully maintained across its many premises and retail branches. SEB life International, part of the SEB life division, is a life insurance company based in Dublin which engages in the cross border distribution of insurance products to Nordic clients across several European markets.

Prior to the project commencing, SEB Life International signed a lease to extend their occupation of Floors 5 and 6 at the Bloodstone Building, Dublin. The objective was to update and comprehensively refresh the existing workspace, investing in solutions to improve acoustic performance, enable more flexible working by adding spaces that naturally and instinctively create moments for informal and formal collaboration. The project goal was to reflect changing working standards and to modernise the space, economically and effectively, re-using existing partitions and furniture, sustainably and responsibly.

Careful, managed delivery and interpretation of the SEB global brand book was needed to deliver a space that reflects the bank's’ Swedish roots and one which responded to the unique demands of the Dublin market.

A full re-plan and re-fit of 5th & 6th floors was developed with direct input from staff, including a new social space and cafe, collaboration and meeting space facility, using SEB Global standards as a framework, whilst reflecting local input, community and focus.

The Burtt-Jones & Brewer team carried out staff workshops, design development, tendered our working drawings and construction level specifications, supporting SEB through the entire process working with the chosen contractor, engaging with the Brand team in Sweden.

With changing confidence toward the impact of Covid on working patterns and space requirements, the solution needed to be flexible, allowing for adaption throughout the lease period, with the possibility of releasing the 6th floor at the 5 year break, dependent on space needs and business growth / change. The design and principles of use need to be resilient, toward potential, unknown changes.
